The U.S. Department of Justice has opened a probe into a recent breach at the world's largest cryptocurrency exchange Coinbase Global (COIN.O), Bloomberg News reported on Monday.
Investigators, including those in the DOJ's criminal division in Washington, are digging into the circumstances surrounding the breach, the report said, citing a person familiar with the matter.
Coinbase has said that while the attackers stole some data, including names, addresses and emails, they did not get access to login credentials or passwords.
Coinbase and the Justice Department did not immediately respond to Reuters' requests for comment.
