New York Mets infielder Jorge Polanco will have season-ending ankle surgery, manager Andy Green confirmed on Wednesday.

The team ‌placed Polanco on the 10-day injured list with left ankle bursitis. His first season with the Mets ends after just 37 games with a .148 batting average, two home runs and six RBIs.

The Mets signed the former All-Star to a two-year, $40 million contract in December to help offset the departure of first baseman Pete Alonso to the Baltimore Orioles.

Polanco wound up making only two starts at ‌first base (33 as the designated hitter) due to Achilles and ankle injuries.

Polanco, 33, is a career .259 hitter with 156 home runs and 576 RBIs in 1,125 games with the Minnesota Twins (2014-23), Seattle Mariners (2024-25) and Mets.

The Mets also optioned right-hander Jack Weisenburger to Triple-A Syracuse after Tuesday night's 5-2 home loss to the San Diego Padres. The team recalled right-hander Chayce McDermott and infielder Eric Wagaman from Syracuse on Wednesday.
