Michigan's health department reported 14,277 cases linked to a cyclosporiasis outbreak on Thursday, up 368 from its previous update a week earlier, an increase of nearly 3%.
The department has previously said the increase largely reflected a backlog in processing reports and that new case reports were slowing.
Michigan has been the hardest-hit state in a multistate outbreak of the parasitic illness. It has reported two related deaths, both among people with significant underlying health conditions.
Within Michigan, Wayne County had the most cases, with 2,029, followed by Oakland County with 1,499. People aged 30 to 39 accounted for the largest number of infections by age groups, with 2,879 cases.
The U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention has reported 15,716 laboratory-confirmed cyclosporiasis cases across 47 states as of August 18.
