U.S. financial services firm Charles Schwab plans to expand its India tech centre workforce to about 2,000 employees by the end of 2027, according to a document seen by Reuters and a source familiar with the company's plans.
Schwab's Hyderabad office in southern India will provide technology development, engineering and operational support to the company's U.S. business.
The company also plans to bring some technology work currently handled by contractors in India in-house at the centre, according to the source, who did not want to be named as they are not authorised to talk to the media.
Hyderabad has emerged as a major hub for global capability centres, as multinational companies expand technology and engineering operations in India.
