Gerrit Cole pitched six strong innings, Luis Garcia Jr. and Spencer Jones homered and the New York Yankees completed a three-game sweep of the host Baltimore Orioles with Thursday night's 6-1 victory.
Cole (7-6), who has won in four of his last five outings, held the Orioles to one run on four hits and one walk while striking out eight. He dodged trouble in the sixth by stranding two runners.
Reliever Ryan Yarbrough matched his longest outing of the season with three hitless innings to pick up his third save out of the Yankees' bullpen. It became a combined four-hitter with 12 strikeouts for the New York pitching duo.
Garcia and Jones each posted three hits and two runs as the Yankees won their fourth consecutive game -- all on the road. New York racked up 11 hits as it earned its first sweep since the All-Star break.
Dylan Beavers homered for the second game in a row, but Baltimore's losing streak reached four games. Pete Alonso had two of the Orioles' hits.
Kyle Bradish (7-12) went 5 2/3 innings as Baltimore's starter, with only three of the five runs charged as earned. He gave up eight hits.
The Yankees put up three runs in the third inning to begin the scoring. Jose Caballero's fielder's choice grounder accounted for the first run before Ben Rice rapped an RBI single and came home on Heliot Ramos' double.
Beavers homered in the fifth to put the Orioles on the board.
Garcia hit the first pitch of the sixth inning deep to right-center for his 25th homer of the season and his second since coming over in a trade with the Washington Nationals. Jones added a solo blast two outs later.
New York's Jazz Chisholm Jr. tripled in Garcia in the eighth inning off Albert Suarez. Chisholm was later cut down at the plate trying to score on George Lombard Jr.'s grounder.
The start of the game was delayed because of weather-related concerns.
