European Union antitrust regulators will decide by Feb. 15 whether to clear the tie-up between Orange's Spanish unit with MasMovil after the companies offered remedies to address competition concerns, according to an update on the European Commission website.
The EU competition watchdog stopped the clock on its scrutiny of the deal on July 28 while waiting for the companies to provide requested information.
The regulator, which resumed its investigation on Tuesday, will now seek feedback from Orange and MasMovil's rivals and customers before deciding whether to accept their remedies.
The companies, with the Commission's backing, picked Romania's Digi DIGI.BX to buy assets they plan to divest to address EU antitrust concerns, two people with knowledge of the matter told Reuters in October.
