Russia's Orenburg region has introduced fuel rationing amid a "difficult" situation in the Urals mountain province following a Ukrainian drone strike on its Orsk refinery this week, the regional governor said on Wednesday.
In a post on Telegram, Governor Yevgeny Solntsev said: "Dear residents of our region, I will be frank: a difficult fuel situation is developing in the region."
He said he was introducing restrictions on gasoline sales, including a ban on filling up jerricans, limits on sale volume, and a system of limiting sales to odd or even days based on license plate numbers.
Russia has been experiencing fuel shortages across its eleven time zones since Ukraine began targeting oil refineries earlier this summer, though the situation had eased in some regions.
Other regions have imposed similar restrictions to those being introduced in the Orenburg region.
